ADAPTIVE PHYSICAL EDUCATION/MOTOR GROUPS
Assists students with various disabilities which include large motor skills, eye-hand coordination, upper body strength. Develops skills that promote self-esteem within the physical education curricula. Provides services enabling student to develop skills necessary for participation in physical education including development of physical skill sets, socialization skills for group physical activity participation and positive group interaction skills. Provides support when deemed necessary to general education physical education staff to provide direction regarding student requiring adaptations within the general education setting.
APPLIED BEHAVIOR ANALYSIS
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a scientific approach to understanding behavior. ABA has been effective for teaching a vast range of skills to people with disabilities. Behaviors may include language, social skills, cognitive skills, self-care, play and leisure skills, as well as modifying maladaptive behaviors. ABA relies on data based decisions regarding an individual's progress and utilizes systematic approaches to change behavior which may include 1:1 discrete trial teaching, social skill groups, incidental teaching, and generalization and maintenance techniques.
Brookline has an experienced team of Assistive Technology specialists working with special and general educators and their students to provide appropriate high and low technology tools and services that support student access to the curriculum. Additionally, the AT Team encourages educators to incorporate the concept of Universal Design in their teaching and classrooms.
Consultation to parents/guardians. Consultation to staff. Development of Positive Behavior Intervention Plans. Observation and data collection.
Development of gross motor skills. Motor groups for pre-school students. Development of muscle tone and strength.
Fine motor skill development. Visual motor skills development. Visual perception training. Sensory integration approaches including development and implementation of sensory diets. Daily living skills.

SPEECH AND LANGUAGE THERAPY
Pragmatic groups/development of social competencies. Articulation remediation. Language processing skill development. Approaches to remedy fluency and voice disorders. Augmentative communication. Development of executive function skills. Support and instruction for hearing disorders including technology.
TEACHER OF THE DEAF AND HARD OF HEARING
Consult and direct service to students with hearing issues. Equipment needs and environmental consultation.
TEACHER OF STUDENTS WITH VISUAL IMPAIRMENTS
Consult and direct service to students with vision needs and issues. Functional vision assessment and instruction/Learning Media assessment and instruction.
